Hello Friends!!
So I am back from my hiatus and I have been reading lots so get ready for some book reviews!
My first review that I wanted to do is my new (or I should say rediscovered) author is the lovely Bella Andre, she writes contemporary romance, and her Sullivan's series is perhaps one of the most amazing things I have ever read. The male leads are strong, fierce and of course irresistibly sexy with hearts of gold. I have never been bored with one of her books and they always tug at my heart strings.
So I originally read The Look of Love probably three or four years ago when it was still an ebook, it was on sale on kobo and it sounded like a sweet story, I enjoyed it but I was still more into teen so I didn't continue the series, and in a weird way I am glad I didn't so I could rediscover them. I believe Bella Andre got a publishing deal with Harlequin and started publishing the Sullivan's Series in print but each of the books is expanded so the stories are much more developed that they originally were. And I have to say I am so glad I picked them up because Bella Andre is officially my favourite contemporary romance author.
The Look of Love is about a young woman named Chloe who gets into a car accident in a snow storm, and the man that comes along and helps her, Chase. It's not an easy start, she won't trust a man again and he doesn't do commitment but at Chase's brother's vineyard, everything changes.
I always find these sort of relationships interesting, when one of them is "damaged" and has trust issues because the other person always seems to have to work twice as hard and I think it just makes a better story.
The character development was really amazing in this story, neither Chloe or Chase were the same people at the end of the story as they were at the beginning. Sometimes with these sort of stories, I find that one of the characters undergoes a complete transformation, while the other just doesn't. I think it is much more interesting, and also much more difficult for the author to completely develop two characters.
Okay so now lets talk about the steam factor about The Look of Love. I find sometimes contemporary romance can be a little PG-13, this is not one of those stories, I would give it a solid 4 1/2/5 on the steam scale. And the love scenes are not trashy, they are very romantic, very well written and just really hot tbh. She knows how to write, that's for sure.
So I know this review is a little shorter but honestly it is just one of those books you have get and read yourself because it is just so amazing. And the rest are equally as good!
I hope you check out this amazing series, please let me know what you think!
Peace, Love, and Happy New Year!
